Bring your passion for the environment to the Pacific! Use your economics experience and knowledge to help grow the awareness of, capacity in, and use of Natural Resource Economics in Fiji.

The International Union for Conservation and Nature (IUCN) Pacific Centre for Environmental Governance, part of the world’s largest professional conservation organisation and network that is IUCN, is committed to the increased capacity and use of Natural Resource Economics (NRE) in policy development and decision making in Fiji and the Pacific Islands. IUCN Oceania Regional Office (ORO) has been operating for 10 years and works with 58 members in 22 Pacific Island countries on programs including species conservation, biodiversity, oceans, mangroves, forests, renewable energy, environmental law, and ecosystem services.

Your role will involve building the capacity of Fijian leaders and decision makers by helping develop and deliver NRE workshops and forums. You will also build the awareness and capacity of NRE amongst economics students at the University of the South Pacific by supporting the growth of a targeted intern program. You will be working side by side with local staff at the IUCN Oceania Office in Suva, helping grow their awareness and understanding of NRE and its use.

Your role will contribute to better outcomes for Fijian communities - improved awareness and understanding by leaders and decision makers on the application and benefits of using NRE will flow on to better policy and project outcomes.  You’ll also be directly supporting a growth in the pool of economics graduates in Fiji with NRE credentials, knowledge and experience.
