Be an advocate for Diabetic foot care and improve the lives of Kiribati’s most vulnerable clients requiring rehabilitation services.
The Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS), Tungaru Rehabilitation Service (TRS) provides physiotherapy, prosthetics, orthotics and wheelchair / walking aid services to inpatients and outpatients.
Use your skills in diabetic foot care to provide clinical support to the staff of the Diabetic Foot Clinic (DFC). This support will be focused on screening, wound management, and client education as well as day to day mentoring around the DFC’s systems and procedures. You will also contribute to raising awareness about the prevention, treatment and on going management of diabetic foot wounds.
Your role will increase awareness in the community of how to effectively manage diabetic foot ulcers to avoid amputation. It will also increase staff skills and knowledge about diabetic foot care, in particular through networking with DFC personnel in Samoa and Tonga.
